Amos Balongo began his commitment to international exchange and leadership development 18 years ago when he first directed camp programs for the YMCA of Kenya. In addition to his work with the YMCA, Amos founded Leadtime Services, a leadership development and camp program for youth in Kenya.
Amos then served as a camp counselor for Becket Chimney Corners YMCA in Massachusetts for several summers. Additionally, Amos coordinated and led six-week cultural exchange programs in Kenya for the International Camper Exchange Program of Becket Chimney Corners YMCA.
A Kenyan native, Amos immigrated to the United States ten years ago and has since been successful in leading business and development projects for Fortune 500 companies. Amos was an Equity Partner at Asset Management Group, an acquisitions and development company for six years.
Amos’ commitment to the YMCA has continued in the United States. He has served on the leadership board for the YMCA'S of Greater Miami and served as Assistant Director for the International Camp Counselor Program at the International YMCA. He currently serves as the official representative of the Kenya YMCA to North America.
Amos has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration. He also earned YMCA Director Certification through the YMCA of the USA. Amos is currently a professional member of the American Camping Association and serves as a member of the American Camping Association Accreditation and Standards team.
Angie Gorsuch has worked in the field of youth services and international exchange for over ten years. Her experience has included supervising camp staff and programs for Camp Adventure Youth Services, an educational, service-learning program for college students. In addition to serving as a camp counselor in Germany and South Korea, Angie also served as a Project Coordinator, supervising students and regional programs in Japan and Germany in 2001 and 2002. As a Project Director for Camp Adventure in 2006, Angie was responsible for overall supervision of nine programs and 45 students in Hawaii.
Angie served as a Youth and Family Program Director for the YMCA of Santa Clara Valley, supervising Y-Adventure Guides, teen leadership programs, and all family, specialty, and day camps. Angie continued her work with the YMCA as the Director of Global Teens, a leadership development and international exchange program at the International YMCA in New York.
During her tenure with the YMCA, Angie simultaneously served as Training Coordinator for Camp Adventure Youth Services. In this role, she is responsible for the planning and facilitation of a 50+ hour training program to prepare over 100 students to work as camp counselors throughout the United States, Europe, and Asia.
Angie has presented at multiple conferences throughout the United States and abroad, focusing on the areas of cultural competence, youth programming, and leadership development.
Angie has a Bachelor’s of Social Work and a Master’s of Youth & Human Service Administration. She also holds Senior Director Certification through the YMCA of the USA.
