My name is Steve and I am a member of The Leader Compass. I was fortunate enough to recently represent us on various service initiatives in Kenya.
During this time I was able to travel to remote parts of the country where I oversaw Leader Compass efforts to develop health, educational, wellness and recreation programs for the Maasai who are one of the last nomadic tribes in Africa.
The Leader Compass has a special relationship with the St. Nicholas Children's Home in Nairobi, Kenya. It was very much a reality check for me coming from a western country and being brought up in a totally different environment. Overall it was a humbling experience, and throughout the kids always have a huge smile on their faces.
Of course it wasn't all about work... Among other things I was also able to go on wildlife safari in the Maasai Mara, visit the Nairobi Animal Orphanage, feed giraffes and eat some amazing food.
It was a once in a lifetime opportunity and I hope that this section can provide some insight into my Kenyan experience. I throughly reccommend it to anyone who has a passion for wildlife, culture, food, people, building friendships... and having a great time along the way!
Salama!
